Dr. Polit. and Senior research fellow at FNI (since 1999).

Programme director of FNI's Global Programme (1997-2003).

Scholarship, Researcher, and then Research Fellow at FNI (1989-99).

Research fellow at the Centre for environment and development (SUM), University of Oslo (1996-97).

Research mission at the Norwegian Ministry of Environment (1992-93).

Member of National Committee on Global Change, organised by the Research Council of Norway (2005-2009).

Member of the Working Group on Biotec Norway 2020, organised by the Research Council of Norway (2004-05).

Member of Steering Committee for the Research Programme on Biological Diversity; Research Council of Norway (2003-2007).

Member of Steering Committee for the Research Programme on globalisation and marginalisation; Research Council of Norway (2002-2008).

Main research interests
The formation, implementation and interaction of international regimes on environmental and resources management and trade, in particular, issues relating to biodiversity, forestry management, biotechnology and genetic resources. Main research interests also include access & benefit sharing and property rights to genetic resources in agriculture and aquaculture as well as bioprospecting in marine areas.
