GeoDataset name: Populated places

This dataset is an excerpt from the Digital Chart of the World and was prepared by Grid Arendal, Norway, as part of INSROP Project I.3.1 in 1994. The dataset is in scale 1:1 mill. See http://www.maproom.psu.edu/dcw/ for more information about the Digital Chart of the World.

The data set consists of two shapefiles:

Points: pppnt.shp

Polygons: pppoly.shp

Coordinate system: Latitude/longitude in decimal degrees
