FNI PROJECTS

Public Domain for Genetic Resources

This project has now been completed. The main objectives have been attained and three articles have been published. In addition, two Master theses have been produced through the project.

The Public Domain project has had three main research questions:
1) The 'public domain' concept from a legal theoretical perspective and from the perspective of international law.
2) The current legal situation from two perspectives: From the public perspective and from a private law perspective (private law comprises tangible property law and intellectual property law).
3) How changes in this field of law can alter the legal positions of the users of genetic resources and other stakeholders.
