FNI Researchers to Present at ECPR Conference in Dublin
Researchers from the Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI) will attend this year’s ECPR General Conference in Dublin, where they will present studies on EU climate policy and Norwegian wind energy development. The conference is a significant event for social science researchers across Europe.
The European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) is an important academic association and a key meeting place for political scientists and social science researchers in Europe. FNI, one of 300 member institutions from nearly 50 countries, will participate in this year’s ECPR General Conference, held at University College Dublin from August 12-15, 2024.
FNI Research Professor Jørgen Wettestad will present a paper titled "EU Emissions Trading: Steady Route towards Net-Zero – or Bumpy Ride Ahead?". The paper reviews the EU ETS reforms adopted in 2023 as part of the Fit for 55 package, discussing whether the ETS is now sufficiently robust to handle future challenges and potential political opposition.
FNI Research Professors Lars H. Gulbrandsen and Tor Håkon Jackson Inderberg will present their paper "Policy Feedback and Changing Renewables Licensing: The Re-establishment of the Municipality as Planning Authority in Norwegian Wind Energy Development." Inderberg, along with FNI Research Professor Jon Birger Skjærseth and NUPI Senior Fellow Kacper Szulecki, will also present a paper with the preliminary title "EU Climate Policy Coordination/Integration Meets National Fragmentation: The Case of Norway."
