Introduction

In Iver B. Neumann (ed), Knausgaard in Context. Scandinavian University Press, 2025, pp. 11-26.

This chapter does three things. First, it presents the format of the book, which is that a group of scholars from different disciplines (literary studies, history of ideas, social psychology, sociology, social anthropology, and political science), join hands to contextualize Knausgaard’s oeuvre according to their respective specialities. Secondly, it gives a short overview of Knausgaard’s oeuvre, stressing its cohesion. Thirdly, in terms of genre, it argues that Knausgaard’s magnum opus My Struggle is a country-oriented roman-fleuve.
