I study the governance of energy transitions, have worked in seven countries and established an international, interdisciplinary research profile on resource and energy governance. My research focuses on questions of social and environmental equity and justice along three main strands.
The first concerns extractive zones, conflict regions and sites of dispossession in relation to energy transitions and land use change at multiple scales.
The second strand concerns the political economy of the energy sector, and interrogates dynamics close to the supply-demand interface, including issues such as energy poverty and justice.
The third strand concerns questions of accountability and sustainability in energy transitions across sectors, including electricity, urban transport and the built environment.
I have in-depth ethnographic experience along parts of the energy sector value chain in India, Portugal and Norway, project experience in a range of European countries, and more recent engagement in Uganda. I have a large network of collaborators on these themes and am happy to discuss supervision, evaluation, public speaking, guest lecturing and joint grant writing opportunities.
I write climate poetry and enjoy art-science co-production. I have advisory experience serving on boards of organisations such as the Empowered Futures Research School and the Young Academy of Norway.
