The article gives a review of the dispute resolution mechanisms in unitization of cross-border hydrocarbon fields stipulated by the Treaty between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Norway Concerning Maritime Delimitation and Cooperation in the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean of 2010, with indication of semantic differences between the text of the Treaty in the Russian and Norwegian languages. The author reviews the obligation of information exchange and holding of mutual consultations, gives an idea of the mechanism of an independent expert report in cases when the parties cannot agree upon the distribution of hydrocarbon fields between each other, and analyzes the provisions of the Agreement on the Ad Hoc Court of Arbitration. Russian and Norwegian laws and the experience in this area are reviewed.
