International Law and Sea Level Rise: The New ILA Committee

This article, published by the International Law Students Association, provides an overview of the reasons for the establishment of a new committee of the International Law Association (ILA) - the Committee on International Law and Sea Level Rise - as well as of its mandate and issues initially dealt with by the Committee. The article is co-authored by the Chair and co-Rapporteurs of the Committee and addresses, in particular: i) assessing climate change in the light of the potential new epoch, the Anthropocene; ii) general overview of the law of the sea issues; and iii) general human rights and forced migration issues.
