FNI part of Arctic "Dream Team"
Norway's ability to promote its interests and High North policies internationally is to be strengthened through the establishment of an Arctic network described as the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende's Arctic "dream team". FNI Director Geir Hønneland is part of the group.
Team Arctic will consist of internal MFA expertise from embassies and the home desk as well as eleven key external actors from the business, research, education, environment, security and emergency preparedness sectors. The team will meet annually to exchange ideas, assessments, and analyses, with the objective of improving the Norwegian foreign service's ability to get the country's message through on the international scene.
- The appointment reflects the central role played by FNI in Arctic affairs over many years. It is an honor to be part of such a competent team, and I am very pleased that FNI research will continue to feed into the political processes that form Norwegian foreign policy in the High North, says FNI Director Hønneland.
