So far, progress in the making of a follow-up to the Kyoto Protocol has been very limited. The main reason is that the US, EU and China have chosen different strategies to deal with this problem.
However, now a notable change can be discerned in the climate policies of these actors. This project will investigate the reason for these changes and not least discuss implications of these changes for the future course of the process of negotiations. These changes could make agreement easier, but there are also severe challenges and uncertainties. The project will follow closely the climate negotiations over the period 2009-2011 with a special focus on these three actors.
