FNI research focuses on international climate negotiations inside and outside the UN, as well as the domestic climate politics of important players such as the EU, China and Russia.
FNI has been a long-time observer and analyst of international climate negotiations within the UN Climate Convention (UNFCCC), as well as the development of national and regional policies to curb greenhouse gas emissions taking place both inside and outside the framework of the Kyoto Protocol.
In cooperation with leading international research institutes, FNI is researching the climate policies of key actors such as the EU, USA, China and Russia, regarding both domestic policy formulation and implementation and the role of these actors in international negotiations. Norwegian climate policy is also a focal point of research.
FNI also conducts studies into various aspects of energy policy, much of it closely related to climate policy.
